Minutes of Committee Meetings
These record the proceedings of the local committee of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution from 5th April 1866 to 14th May 1902. The meetings were held in the lookout tower from 1871 onwards and the minutes are mainly concerned with agreeing the accounts, which are not included. However, they occasionally give an insight into the repair of the lifeboat and the premises, and into a few of the lifeboat crew.

Returns of Service
Each time the lifeboat was launched in response to a call-out, an account was written up and forwarded to the National Institution, and duplicates kept. There is an account for each launch between 2nd December 1867 and 18th April 1929 -- that is, one for every call-out except the very first. The accounts describe how the Secretary and the Coxswain were informed that the lifeboat was needed, the action taken, and – in most cases – the names of the crew and the expenses incurred in paying the crew and helpers.
These duplicate copies are reproduced courtesy of the Looe Town Museum and Gaol.

Inspectors' Logs
The Inspectors’ Logs record the findings of the periodic inspections to the Looe lifeboat station between 5th April 1866 and 4th July 1912, largely on the condition of the lifeboat and lifeboat station (once built) as well as noting the decisions of the National Committee of the RNLI relating to the Looe station.

Quarterly Returns
The lifeboat crews were obliged to undertake a quarterly practice, usually under the supervision of an inspector from the National Institution. This set of returns, although from a single book, is incomplete but notes some of the practice launches between 28th December 1866 and 29 August 1905. On a few of the returns, the names of the crewmen are noted on the back.
