Willoughby, Sir John Pollard
(1799 - 1866)
4th Baronet of Baldon House, donor of funds for the Oxfordshire, had entered the Bombay civil service in 1819. He was the Conservative MP for Leominster 1857–1858. He resigned after being appointed a member of the Council of India, an advisory body to the Secretary of State for India, which he remained until his death in September 1866. It was his donation of £420 to the ROYAL NATIONAL LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION that paid for the construction of the Oxfordshire.
